The Plantation & St. Andrews - A Brief History:

St. Andrews East is the last major new home neighborhood to be
developed within the award winning Plantation Golf & Country Club in
Venice, Florida. On the heels of the successful St. Andrews Park
neighborhood, St. Andrews East achieved immediate success with
over 100 homes sold within the first 6 months of their initial offering.

Development of The Plantation Golf & Country Club was started in
1980 and at the time was located at the far reaches of the Venice
area. With almost 1,300 acres and over 2,500 homes, The Plantation
was the first Planned Unit Development (PUD) to be approved in
Sarasota County. The first Golf Course, The "Bobcat" opened to great
reviews and quickly became known as one of the best in the state of
Florida! The Club facility followed soon thereafter and is a sprawling
cluster of buildings connected by trellised walkways in a true
Bermuda Colonial architectural theme. It serves as the social
nucleus of the community. Plantation's first General Manager, Steve
Lattmann, is now one of the developers of the St. Andrews
neighborhood and has been responsible for most of what exists
today in this award winning community. As the community grew, a
second Golf Course known as the "Panther" was opened in the late
1980's. Both the "Bobcat" and the "Panther" courses serve as venues
for major golfing tournaments and outings as well as the LPGA
Qualifying School. Now in the heart of one of the major growth areas
of Sarasota County, The Plantation remains one of the most desirable
communities in which to live on the West Coast of Florida!
